Biographical Information

Gregory J. Schmidt, Principal. Greg Schmidt has been living in Germany since 1988. He was born and grew up in the United States. Greg received his Bachelor's and Juris Doctor with honors degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. At law school he studied business, international, and tax law and was Managing Editor of the North Carolina Journal of International Law & Commercial Regulation. After graduation, Greg practiced law from 1985 to 1988 in the Real Estate & Financial Institutions section of a law firm in Dallas, Texas. He came to Germany in 1988 on a DAAD scholarship for international lawyers, participating in a ten-month program introducing foreign lawyers to the German legal system. From 1989 to 1997 he was the Director of US Investments at a German asset management firm in Bad Homburg. In 1997 he acquired the US asset management business of his employer and established his own asset management company. Greg established his law office in Frankfurt in 2001. In addition to his native language English, Greg speaks fluent German and some French.

Greg is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Rechtsanwaltskammer Frankfurt am Main (as Attorney at Law for US law only), and the American Bar Association (ABA).

Greg Schmidt is admitted to the State Bar of Texas as an Attorney at Law and is subject to the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct. He is a member of the Rechtsanwaltskammer Frankfurt am Main as US Attorney at Law (for US law only) and is subject to the Berufsregeln und Rechtsprechung applicable to German attorneys as listed at the linked website of the Bundesrechtsanwaltskammer. As required in Germany, he carries professional liability insurance. The insurer is Allianz Versicherungs-AG, Großer Burstah 3, D-20457 Hamburg, Germany.
